Friday, December 16, 2005 - Thanks to everyone through 2005 that made Uncle Dad
and the Drunken Swimmers what it was. We had a helluva time singing for and
drinking with you. What lies in wait? Who knows. Just STAY TUNED.
Thursday, December 1, 2005 - One final show. It has been booked. And it shall be
the last time that Uncle Dad and the Drunken Swimmers will set foot on stage.
Come to witness the spectacle as well as a few surprises. Intrigued? You should
be!
Friday, November 18, 2005 - The future of Uncle Dad and the Drunken Swimmers
hangs in the balance. We've just played our best show. .ever. And it remains to
be seen if the band is going to stay together or break up. The imminent
depature of Jenny and Chris leaves the rest of the band in limbo. Thanks to all
that were at Otto's to witness a momentous occasion.
Friday and Saturday, September 16 and 17, 2005 - Thanks to everyone that came
out to both Otto's Shrunken Head and the Van Gogh Radio Bar to support the
Hurricane Katrina Benefit relief. All of your help and donations were truly
great and we're sure to be appreciated by our fellow Americans. Again, we can't
thank you all enough.
Thursday, September 8, 2005 - JUG FEST III. What can be said other than people
wondered if we'd hold up, and we held? Rhetorical question. Because, of course,
nothing else can really be said. Want to thank everyone who came out to the
show and paid to see four great bands. Even greater, all proceeds went to
Habitat for Humanity, to help rebuild after the rampage of Hurricane Katrina.
Also want to thank our newest member, Jenny, for finding it in her heart to
eventually show up to the show, in spite of missing the sound check. Rookies.
In other news - Thats right, race fans!! Your local hometown heroes, Uncle Dad
and the Drunken Swimmers have been invited to play at "Jug Fest 3". This marks
the first time that we'll be playing a show with other bands such as ourselves,
and will be the first chance we get to test our meddle. It's Thursday,
September 8th at Southpaw in Brooklyn. Mark your calendars!
Friday, July 8, 2005 - Big time thank you to the CBGB's 313 Gallery for allowing
us to come in sans try-out night and lay it down. The sound guy was awesome,
and did his best to mic six instruments. Thanks to all that came out and
supported. Not much more to say than we'll see you in a while.
Friday, June 10, 2005 - What's better than getting drunk and playing a show at a
tiki bar? Doing it a second time. Once again, UDDS are indebted to those that
let us play at Otto's Shrunken Head. Good times. Good tunes. Good fans. And I
learned something very important that night. While it is true that people are
fundamentally different, its nice to know that there are some things which bind
us all. Something innate. I learned this when the two Norwegians that happened
to stop in for a drink while on vacation let us know that they, too, are fans
of Warren G. Thats because no matter where you go. . the rhythm is the bass. .
and the bass is the treble.
Friday, May 6, 2005 - Once again we laid it down basement style at The
Apocalypse Lounge. Big ups to O' Death for the invite and for everyone else not
kicking our ass for playing a Prince cover. I heard somewhere that Prince
doesn't like it when people cover his songs, which got me a little worried.
Then I heard that Prince is actually something like 5' 2", so I got a little
less worried. Also want to thank everyone for the support that night,
especially the support from my good buddy, Jack Daniels. After the first time
we played there and he was nowhere to be found, I made sure he made his way
into the establishment. Because anything less would be uncivilized.
Wednesday, May 4, 2005 - I never thought in a million years we'd get a jug band
in at The Continental. But thats just what we did. In your face, Jesus!! Our
very special thanks to Noah, the sound guy, who made the valiant effort of
trying to mic every instrument and balance the levels. You ever seen Scanners?
The part when the guy's head explodes. He kinda' looked like that. And only in
NYC can you have a jug band play a show, and then have the lead singer from
Fuel up on stage a scant two bands later. I can't make this up kids. Well, I
could, but honestly, why would I want to?
Thursday, April 14, 2005 - Well, well, well. I have three words for ya'. The
Apocalypse Lounge. First, the bad news. There was no. . . hold on. Wait for it.
. . wait. . .wait. . .okay. Here it is. There was no Jack Daniels. None. Zero.
If this is a preview as to what the Apocalypse will actually be like, I now
understand why people call it the end of the world. Cause it would be folks. No
Jack Daniels. End of he world. Go hand in hand. Like Chicken and Lysol.
The good news. Thanks to everyone who come to see how a jug band rocks it
basement style. If the heat didn't get you, the $3 Rheingolds did. And $3 for
anything in America today is practically like getting it for free. Unless it is
free. I'll take anything for free. It could be big bags of manure on the side
of the road. As long as I see that hand painted "Free" sign on posterboard, I'm
a stoppin' for a look.
Big thanks to Lonesome Jack for inviting us to play. It turned out to be a great
gig and you guys hold it down Wolvie Berserk style. And folks, if you want to
really learn how much a toy piano can rock, check these guys out. We also want
to thank the club for inviting us back for their country music night. All you
ladies that let your babies grow up to be cowboys are in for a rude awakening.
Ruder than that time in that hotel in that place. You remember what I'm talking
about. Don't act like you don't.
Saint Patrick's Day, 2005 - How drunk were we? Damn, this was a good time. Big
shout out to all those in attendance and to the chick who had a birthday. A
birthday on Saint Patrick's Day. I would give Jeff's left thumb to have been
born on Saint Patrick's Day. Lucky. Anyhoo, once again Uncle Dad laid it down
as only we can, and due to great audience response, had a great show. A big
thanks to all of you little Hulkamaniacs out there that make us feel more
welcome than we do in a Japanese restaurant. . which is a compliment, because
those guys in Japanese restaurants are wicked friendly.
By the by, if you're reading this and have not yet signed the guestbook, why
not take some time for yourself. You know, draw a hot bath. Brew yourself a
nice cup of Chai tea, light some candles, put on some smooth jazz, and slip
into the tub with your laptop and let the poetry flow. Doesn't that sound
delightful? I knew it would.
Three seconds to shiny pants.
Two seconds to shiny pants.
One second to shiny pants.
Shiny pants.
Wednesday, March 2, 2005 - Man, was this a weird night. So, we rock out at the
Slipper Room as scheduled. Thanks to all those who came out. After our set, the
main man, Gerard, informs us theres a jam session/ after party going on a scant
few blocks away at a joint called Club B3. He tells us if we drop his name,
we'll instantly be in the know. So, we do that, and end up playing another full
set at a completely different bar. Accolades were flowing out just like the
Grand Canyon. We want to thank everyone there for making us feel welcome, and
we look forward to seeing everyone again real soon, in the lion's mane.
On a personal note, we want to shout out one of our personal heroes, Eric
"Badlands" Booker. He was in attendance and every bit as cool as we thought
he'd be in real life. This guy is ten kinds of awesome. 'Nuff said.
Friday, February 11, 2005 - Thanks to everyone who came out to see us at Otto's
Shrunken Head ! From what I can piece together through the fog of Jack Daniels,
the show went really well with a lot of positive feedback. Though, I believe
the website failed to get mentioned again, which means not a lot of people are
reading this right now. But, I don't do it for the fame. I do it for the
cartharsis. Stay tuned. . . this party's just gettin warmed up.
Wednesday, January 12, 2005 - Well, so marks the second exhibition of Uncle Dad
and his mighty might. This time he laid it down at the Slipper Room . A swanky
little joint, I must say. Thanks to all who showed up. Surprisingly enough,
Moby was in attendence, though we're certain he wasn't there to see us. It just
worked out that way. Either way, he gave Jeff the thumbs up to a good
performance, which leads us to say that thus far:
Uncle Dad and the Drunken Swimmers
Kid Tested
Moby approved.
Thank you Cleveland! We love you New York!!
